Trauma & EMDR Therapist

Welcome to my private practice,

situated in the town of Gympie Qld. I started my counselling and therapy service as I am passionate about providing holistic care that integrates evidence based treatments that acknowledge both the body and the mind.

Our bodies hold the feelings, sensations, emotions and memories, ‘our body holds the trauma’. By using therapeutic practices and psychological interventions that acknowledge both the body and brain, one has more opportunity to access pathways that will guide them to  a sense of wellbeing and mental wellness.

EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy is an evidence based effective treatment undertaken throughout the world by experienced trained clinicians. EMDR is a therapy that has been proven to support people in their recovery from PTSD, Complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, addictions, phobias, OCD and other mental health challenges. EMDR Therapy does not require a lot of talking about the trauma, and can be used with children, teens and adults. EMDR accesses the brain’s natural healing process to reduce distress associated with past events. EMDR therapy is beneficial whenever painful memories are causing significant disturbance and/or a negative view about oneself. EMDR is a BODY and MIND therapy and is a trauma informed evidence- based treatment.

Clinical Hypnotherapy

Clinical hypnotherapy is a psychotherapy that includes both therapy skills and hypnosis by a trained clinician. Clinical hypnotherapy can be used for a range of issues- quitting a bad habit (smoking, biting nails), stress management, trauma, phobia’s, OCD, anxiety, depression, anger, self-esteem and more!

Hypnosis is the process of inducing trance. It is the key that unlocks the door to the unconscious mind, allowing therapy at a deep and lasting level. Almost everyone has experienced involuntary hypnotic trance. Anyone who has experienced daydreaming, being totally ‘lost’ in a film, book, music, boring or repetitive tasks has already experienced a trance and that is almost everyone! A hypnotherapist induces this pleasant relaxed state deliberately for therapeutic gain.

When in trance the clients busy conscious

mind relaxes and their unconscious mind

comes to the forefront. The clinician is

now able to speak to a more receptive

and focused unconscious mind to create

deep and lasting change of old habits,

thoughts, emotions and memories.

Hypnosis and trance are natural and safe,

you cannot get ‘stuck’ in a hypnotic state,

you remain aware and can voluntarily

terminate the trance at any point.
