I hold a Bachelor of Social Work with Honours and am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker. My background involves working with vulnerable young people and families through the Department of Communities, transitioning to the arena of mental health, where I have worked both in community agencies and government departments.  I have experience working alongside adults, youth and children, working along the spectrum of mild, moderate and severe mental health issues/illness.

I have a background engaging with children and adolescents, meeting their emotional and mental health needs,  with experience in school refusal, anxiety, mood related issues and parenting support.

I am a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers and involved with the local Social Work practice group. I undertake professional development on a regular basis and am passionate about incorporating body based interventions, with myself practicing Yoga as a form of relaxation and self care.

Full fee - $125 (50 mins)

Required at time of appointment (range of payment options available).

I have a Medicare provider number which allows me to provide focused psychological interventions under the Medicare Better Access to Mental Health Care Scheme. This means low cost to you, with out of pocket expenses depending on individual circumstances, which can be discussed at time of initial contact.

Welcome to my private practice, situated in the town of Gympie Qld. I started my counselling and therapy service as I am passionate about providing holistic care that integrates evidence based treatments that acknowledge both the body and the mind.

Our bodies hold the feelings, sensations, emotions and memories, ‘our body holds the trauma’. By using therapeutic practices and psychological interventions that acknowledge both the body and brain, one has more opportunity to access pathways that will guide them to  a sense of wellbeing and mental wellness.

Having a background working with children, youth and adults, it is necessary to vary the approach for each group, to provide a model of care that is appropriate to the age group. I am guided by a trauma informed practice, taking into consideration a person’s attachment and relationship issues. This approach allows for a longitudinal understanding of a person and informs therapy and techniques.

  • generalised anxiety
